Time (& A Little Bit Of Effort) HEALS All Wounds

Autobiography in Five Chapters

(from THE TIBETAN BOOK OF LIVING AND DYING)

Chapter One

I walk down the street,
There is a deep hole in the pavement.

I fall in.

I am lost ... I am hopeless.

It isn't my fault.

It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the pavement.

I pretend I don't see it.

I fall in again.

I can't believe I am in the same place.

But it isn't my fault.

It still takes a long time to getout.

Chapter Three

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the pavement.

I see it is there.

I still fall in ... It's a habit.

My eyes are open.

I know where I am.

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

Chapter Four

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the pavement.

I walk around it.

Chapter Five

I walk down another street.

When we persevere on the spiritual path, and examine ourselves honestly, it begins to dawnon us more and more that our perceptions are nothing more than a web of illusions. Simply to acknowledge our confusion, even though we cannot accept it completely, can bring some light of understanding and spark off in us a new process, a process of healing.
