Silversmiths, Fire Walkers & Spirit Dancers

It was a foggy sunrise here at the Creek ... this beautiful thought came to me in an email ...

This verse ... He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.  (Malachi 3:3) ... puzzled a woman in Bible study and she felt compelled to find out about the process of refining silver.  She called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him work.  She didn't make any mention of the reason for her interest other than curiosity about the process.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up.  He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot, remembering the verse, "He will sit as a purifier of silver."

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eye on the silver the entire time it was in the fire.  If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment.  Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when it is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."

What a beautiful truth!

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until he sees His image in YOU!

I thought about that.  It is not His intent for us to be in the fire one moment too long ... just long enough to be purified but never to be destroyed.

That one thought would have changed the way I walked through my own fires!  I wouldn't have crouched in fear.  I would have stretched and danced ... had I truly known and believed that He was watching me!

No worries!

There will be other fires.  There always are.  Next time, I won't just be a fire walker, making my way through the fire storm ...

I can take the heat!  I've done that before!

Next time, I'll give my spirit permission to dance!

Come dance with me?
